What is ‘Whole Moon Living?’
Whole Moon Living was born out of our desire to create a space where people can explore their spirituality in all of its joyous, profound, imperfect, messy, light/dark, life crushing, life affirming glory.
We see Whole Moon Living as an ongoing idea that is constantly changing and transforming.
It can mean:
living in balance
Integrating opposites
Recognising the shadow/unknown as part of the whole
Living in harmony with the moon cycle, your cycles or natural cycles
Exploring the material, the liminal and the border in between
Balancing the spiritual with the mundane ‘day to day’.
We see spirituality as many things, but we wanted our space to be where you come to explore spirituality as a part of your life, not separate from it. Where spirituality is about the experience of being human, not trying to transcend our humanity.
Sure, we recognise there are many spiritual paths – all are valid and should be explored whenever they call to you – but our space is where we explore opening the spiritual portal and doing it in a way that honours our human experience as spiritual and profound. We plant our spiritual flag firmly in the everyday of life.
So when I was listening to a song I dearly love – The Whole of the Moon by the Waterboys – I realised it encapsulated what we were trying to do with our fledgling business idea.
I was grounded
While you filled the skies
I was dumbfounded by truth,
You cut through lies
I saw the rain-dirty valley
You saw ‘Brigadoon!’
I saw the crescent,
You saw the whole of the moon
There’s so many ways I interpret that song, but seeing the Whole of the Moon – the Full Moon instead of just the crescent, the dark side and the light side, the New Moon and the Whole Moon – is this beautiful tightrope we walk in life and spirituality.
How do we see the profound and the sacred in every aspect of our lives, even the darkest and hardest parts, while still living in the everyday? How do we celebrate the sacred in the mundane (see Brigadoon instead of a rain dirty valley)?
How do we remain spiritually aware when there’s a cost of living crisis? When the world seems in political and climate crisis? When the ground beneath your feet feels like it’s going to give way at any moment?
This is when spirituality is truly tested.
So at Whole Moon Living, we want to explore these challenges and to hold space for the sticky parts of spirituality, whether that is simply finally finding a way to incorporate a daily practice into your life, or to do the more full-on work of exploring your shadow side.
We want to create reasonably priced courses and products that help people along this spiritual path.
We want to create a space for dialogue, as there’s no one way to explore your spiritual path and every person is different.
We’re not all destined to be gurus or live a life devoted to spiritual practice. Both of these things are amazing and so important to humanity, but they are not the spiritual path for most of us.
But we do all want to experience the sacred gift that is the human experience and not take it for granted, or live out the years we have been gifted on auto pilot.
So feel free to check out some of our offerings, or to drop us an email to let us know what you think!
We’d be so excited to hear from you and start the dialogue.
